Bryan Health
Why LungFit PH: When Traditional iNO Models No Longer Made Sense
Bryan Health, a nationally recognized healthcare system based in Nebraska, delivers comprehensive care across a wide range of specialties—including advanced respiratory therapy. Serving patients from neonatal to adult, Bryan’s team manages complex cases such as persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN) in newborns and cardiopulmonary conditions in adults. Prior to adopting LungFit PH, the hospital relied on traditional tank-based systems for inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) delivery—an approach that presented logistical challenges, staffing burdens, and increasing costs that no longer aligned with their long-term goals.
Lil O'Neill, a seasoned clinician with extensive experience in inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) therapy since the early 1990s, witnessed firsthand the therapeutic benefits of iNO, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when it was frequently used for patients with acute respiratory distress. However, as pandemic relief measures ended, it became evident that the current iNO delivery model was financially and operationally unsustainable due to its high costs and logistical inefficiencies.
In November 2022, Lil attended the AARC International Congress, where she was introduced to Beyond Air and the LungFit PH system. Following an in-depth demonstration of this tankless iNO solution, Lil returned to Nebraska and presented the advantages to her management team. The interest in this innovative technology was immediate, leading to a formal demonstration and trial.
"I had a gut instinct that tankless was the way of the future, and I have no regrets."

How Bryan Health Integrated LungFit PH for Sustainable, Patient-Centered Care
By March 2023, Bryan Health was under contract with Beyond Air. "From the start, our decision to adopt LungFit felt right, thanks to its simplicity, efficiency and cost-saving potential," says Lil O'Neill.
For the team at Bryan Health, the LungFit PH system delivered:
- Ease of Use: With its intuitive design, LungFit PH was quickly adopted by Bryan Health’s staff, ensuring safe and efficient patient care without disrupting preexisting workflows.
- Operational Efficiency: The tankless system simplified operations by removing the logistical challenges associated with traditional iNO cylinders, allowing Bryan Health’s clinicians to focus fully on patient care without the physical and operational demands of managing heavy tanks.
- Cost Savings: Shifting to a tankless system significantly lowered expenses related to medical gas—a big advantage for Bryan Health, where controlling costs in supplies and staffing remains essential.
- Enhanced Sustainability and Financial Health: By reducing reliance on costly gas suppliers, LungFit PH offered Bryan Health a sustainable and financially viable alternative, helping to create a more resilient respiratory care program.
Previously constrained by the rising costs of traditional cylinder providers, Bryan Health now benefits from a solution that generates iNO from room air, allowing more time to focus on patient care. The elimination of logistical requirements associated with heavy cylinders supports sustainability initiatives and cost savings benefits the financial health of their system.
Since the transition to LungFit PH in 2023, Bryan Health has seen firsthand how Beyond Air’s technology and service model work hand in hand to deliver both clinical and operational advantages.
